UBS Group ( UBS ) is merging its mergers and acquisitions unit with its sponsor advisory group as part of the bank's restructuring plans, according to internal memos from UBS Head of Global Banking Javier Oficialdegui, UBS confirmed to MT Newswires

The combined unit, which will be called the Corporate & Sponsor Advisory group, will be headed by Jeff Hinton and Nestor Paz-Galindo, who are currently the co-leaders of UBS' M&A division. The two will report to Oficialdegui, the bank said.

UBS also said that Terry Sullivan has been named chairman of the Global Financial Institutions Group, or FIG, and will report to Oficialdegui. Additionally, Vik Hebatpuria and Stefanos Papapanagiotou have been appointed Global Co-Heads of the Financial Institutions Group, and will also report to Oficialdegui.
