United Parcel Service ( UPS ) reported Q3 non-GAAP earnings Tuesday of $1.74 per diluted share, down from $1.76 a year earlier.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $1.29.
Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $21.42 billion, down from $22.25 billion a year earlier.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $20.84 billion.
For Q4, the company expects revenue to be about $24 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect $23.82 billion.
The company also said that over the course of nine months, it has realized $2.2 billion in cost savings by closing 93 buildings and cutting its workforce by 14,000 positions, primarily within management, and about 34,000 jobs in operations.
UPS shares were up 7.3% in early trading.
