Walmart ( WMT ) is bringing back the minimum basket fee for customers receiving US government assistance and subscribers to the Walmart+ Assist program, the company confirmed in a statement to MT Newswires.

According to an earlier report from Reuters, the $6.99 fee applies to grocery pickup and delivery orders under $35 and had previously been waived for users of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, via Electronic Benefits Transfer, or EBT. The fee was originally suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Walmart ( WMT ) spokesperson told MT Newswires the company had waived the fee during the pandemic to support social distancing, but that going forward, the standard $35 order minimum will apply to all pickup and delivery orders.
