Warner Music ( WMG ) said Wednesday it has reached a deal with Udio to resolve copyright litigation and support the development of a licensed artificial intelligence-powered music platform set to launch in 2026.
The agreement covers Warner Music's ( WMG ) recorded music and publishing units and will enable Udio to train generative AI models on licensed content, the company said.
The new platform will allow fans to remix and create music using the voices and compositions of participating artists while ensuring they are credited and paid, it added.
Udio will also introduce new protections to safeguard artist rights and continue operating its current closed system until the transition is complete, Warner Music ( WMG ) said.
Shares of Warner Music ( WMG ) were up about 3.8% in recent trading.
