WeRide ( WRD ) shares climbed 4.1% and Uber Technologies ( UBER ) shares were up 2.1% in recent Monday trading after WeRide ( WRD ) said it signed a memorandum of understanding with Uber ( UBER ) and Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority to roll out pilot phases of autonomous vehicles later in 2025 through the Uber ( UBER ) app in Dubai.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

In the first phase, the vehicles will operate with a safety driver with full autonomous services to be launched next year, the company said.

The field preparations for the pilot phase are already underway, led by WeRide ( WRD ) and Uber ( UBER ), the autonomous driving technology company said.
