Western Alliance Bancorporation (WAL) shares were up by nearly 7% in recent trading on Friday, a day after the company posted Q2 earnings and revenue ahead of consensus.

Western Alliance reported Q2 EPS Thursday of $1.75, down from $1.96 a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by Capital IQ expected $1.70.

Revenue for the quarter ended June 30, expressed as the sum of net interest income and noninterest income, was $771.8 million, up from $669.3 million a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by Capital IQ expected $737.7 million.
