Urban Reality: State of residential real estate in India
Sep 7, 2018 7:46 AM

The odds are stacked against the recovery of India’s residential real estate market, which is facing multiple problems.

From the fall in the rupee, which brings the possibility of a rate hike in rising raw material and labour cost, to construction ban by the Supreme Court for no waste disposal rules in a few states, the industry seems to be facing new challenges every month.

In Urban Realty, Swati Sambyal, programme manager, CSE and Pankaj Bajaj, managing director, Eldeco Infrastructure discussed construction ban, which though now lifted in Maharashtra and Uttarakhand, still continues to apply in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chandigarh.

The larger question is to asked, why is the construction industry singled out in a matter like waste, when waste is generated by every single person.
