02:53 PM EDT, 04/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Airlines for America, the trade group representing the major US carriers, has requested another year of voluntary flight reductions at the three major New York City-area airports in the US, according to media reports Wednesday.
The requests were made in a letter by the Airlines for America to the US Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration, the reports said.
If federal regulators grand the request, airlines could reduce flights at the New York City-area airports as well as Ronald Reagan Washington National until October 2025 without risk of losing their flight slots.
