07:41 AM EDT, 10/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Tesla (TSLA) vehicles equipped with its Full Self-Driving system are under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for alleged traffic-safety violations, the agency said this week.
The agency's Office of Defects Investigation said it has identified multiple incidents in which FSD-induced behavior resulted in traffic violations, including vehicles proceeding through red lights and FSD commanding lane changes into opposing lanes of traffic.
NHTSA said the ODI's Preliminary Evaluation will assess "the scope, frequency, and potential safety consequences" of such driving maneuvers.
The investigation covers 2,882,566 Tesla vehicles equipped with FSD (Supervised) or FSD (Beta), the agency said.
Tesla did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
Tesla shares were 1.1% lower in premarket trading.
