06:16 AM EDT, 05/07/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US Treasury Department and China's Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Vice Premier He Lifeng will hold high-level talks in Switzerland this week to discuss economic and trade issues.
Bessent will also meet Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter to continue discussions from their recent World Bank and IMF meetings, the US Treasury statement said.
Bessent said in the statement the talks are part of President Donald Trump's broader push to align global economic systems more closely with American interests.
China's Foreign Ministry said Vice Premier He, who leads China's economic dialogue with the US, will also meet Swiss leaders before traveling to France for further financial discussions with French officials.
The Chinese official's meetings in France, scheduled from May 12 to 16, will include co-chairing the 10th China-France High-Level Economic and Financial Dialogue.
