06:33 AM EDT, 05/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- A New York federal court has ruled that Spanish drugmaker Grifols ( GRFS ) can proceed with key aspects of its defamation lawsuit against short seller Gotham City Research, according to multiple media reports late Thursday.

The reports stated that the court found sufficient grounds to pursue claims related to Gotham's allegation that Grifols ( GRFS ) had hidden a $95 million loan, but dismissed other claims, including unjust enrichment and interference.

The case stems from a January 2024 report by Gotham that accused Grifols ( GRFS ) of financial misstatements, triggering a sharp drop in the company's market value.

Gotham City Research did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
