07:21 AM EDT, 05/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The United States will reduce "de minimis" tariffs on low-value items imported from China, lowering the levy from 120% to 54% for goods valued up to $800, according to a White House executive order issued Monday.
The move is effective from May 14, the White House said, adding that a proposed $200 flat fee has been shelved, with the current $100 fee remaining in place.
The de minimis exemption allowed items valued at up to $800 and sent from China via postal service to previously enter the United States duty-free and with minimal inspections.
