07:13 AM EDT, 08/20/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Department of Commerce said Tuesday that 407 product categories have been added to the list of "derivative" steel and aluminum products subject to Section 232 sectoral tariffs.
The list now includes wind turbines, mobile cranes, bulldozers and other heavy equipment, railcars, furniture, compressors and pumps, according to a statement.
The steel and aluminum content in these products will now face a 50% duty rate, Under Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Security Jeffrey Kessler said in the statement.
Cleveland-Cliffs ( CLF ) , Nucor ( NUE ) , and other steel manufacturers had petitioned the administration to include additional steel and aluminum auto parts in the list, while Tesla (TSLA) unsuccessfully asked the department to exclude steel products used in electric vehicle motors and wind turbines, Reuters reported Tuesday.
