Jan 30 (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Vertex

Pharmaceuticals' ( VRTX ) drug to treat acute pain, the health regulator said on Thursday,

offering an alternative to addictive opioid painkillers that have fueled a national crisis.
