DPIIT's Additional Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur told CNBC TV18 that the aim is to enhance local capabilities to manufacture non-leather footwear, which is 75 percent of India's total footwear market.

PVR-INOX Ltd has been created after the merger of two leading cinema brands PVR Ltd and INOX Leisure. The merger was effective from February 6, 2023.

Under the new rules, the government has introduced provisions that grant it the authority to issue a no objection certificate (NOC) for the liquidation of a company. This NOC can be issued if it is recommended by both the registrar and the liquidator within a period of 30 days. Furthermore, the government reserves the right to issue an NOC within 15 days after the expiry of the initial 30-day period.
