04:03 PM EDT, 04/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The US Justice Department will hold a meeting on April 24 with the families of the victims of two fatal Boeing ( BA ) 737 Max crashes, two news outlets reported.
Reuters reported Tuesday that the meeting is to be held before the government decides whether to move ahead with a criminal case. The scheduled meeting was first reported by The Seattle Times on Monday.
A $2.5 billion agreement struck with the Justice Department in January 2021 over a 737 MAX fraud conspiracy charge related to the plane's flawed design had provided Boeing ( BA ) with immunity from criminal prosecution for a three-year period, according to Reuters. That period ended in January, it said.
Boeing ( BA ) declined comment.
The Justice Department did not immediately reply to a request for comment by MT Newswires. Reuters said the agency also declined comment.
