WASHINGTON, Aug 7 (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice
Department said on Thursday it required broad divestitures to
resolve a challenge to Unitedhealth's ( UNH ) $3.3 billion acquisition
of Amedisys ( AMED ).
"In addition, Amedisys ( AMED ) would pay a $1.1 million civil
penalty to the United States for falsely certifying that it had
provided 'true, correct, and complete' responses" under
antitrust law, it said in a statement.
