US miner Freeport McMoRan to invest $7.5 billion in Chile mine -Diario Financiero

SANTIAGO, July 23 (Reuters) - U.S. miner Freeport

McMoRan ( FCX ) said on Tuesday that it expects to invest $7.5

billion in expanding its El Abra mine in Chile, according to

Chilean outlet Diario Financiero.

The miner also said it expects to submit an environmental

permit application to expand the mine by the end of 2025.
