07:41 AM EDT, 05/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is seeking additional and updated information from Tesla (TSLA) as it continues its investigation into the company's Autopilot defect issues that persisted even after a recall in late 2023.
In a letter to Tesla, the NHTSA requested information on: vehicles' object and event detection and response; the various "autopilot" packages not including Full-Self Driving Supervised/Beta; all Tesla vehicles with model years 2014-2024 that were equipped with the subject system at anytime and manufactured for sale or lease in the US; incidents in which subject vehicles experienced a crash in the US with the subject system engaged; any update by Tesla to the subject system on or after September 1, 2023 that relate to the crashes in question; all past and present Tesla officers and employees who were involved in any way as of Jan. 1, 2011 with the design, engineering, analysis and testing of the subject system; and various other documentation.
Tesla did not respond immediately to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
