03:49 AM EST, 11/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US Senate approved late Monday a funding package that paves the way for an end to the government shutdown in a 60-40 majority and sent the bill to the House of Representatives for approval.
The bill was passed after eight Democrats joined Republicans to reopen the government, while only Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky voted against the bill, NBC News reported.
The House is expected to pass the bill as soon as Wednesday, media outlets reported, adding that it will then pass on to President Donald Trump for his approval.
The funding would keep the government running through Jan. 30, according to media outlets.
