05:38 AM EDT, 05/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- US Steel (X) said Friday it will remain a US company and strengthen operations through its proposed merger with Nippon Steel, which it said will bring major investment and job creation over four years.
The company issued a statement praising President Donald Trump's leadership, calling him a "bold leader" focused on American workers and manufacturing and for his personal attention to the future of its workforce.
Trump said Sunday that US Steel will retain its headquarters in Pittsburgh under the planned merger with Nippon Steel, calling the deal the largest investment in Pennsylvania's history.
He also said the partnership will create at least 70,000 jobs and contribute $14 billion to the US economy, with most of the investment expected over the next 14 months.
