UScellular's $4.4 Billion Asset Sale to T-Mobile Cleared by Justice Department

10:02 AM EDT, 07/11/2025 (MT Newswires) -- United States Cellular ( USM ) and Telephone and Data Systems ( TDS/PV ) said Friday that the US Justice Department's antitrust division has closed its investigation into their proposed asset sale to T-Mobile US ( TMUS ) .

Under the deal, announced in May last year, T-Mobile is acquiring UScellular's wireless operations and select spectrum assets valued at $4.4 billion. Telephone and Data Systems ( TDS/PV ) owns about 83% of United States Cellular ( USM ), according to the statement.

The transaction remains subject to Federal Communications Commission approval, the companies said.
