11:22 AM EDT, 10/07/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Vale (VALE) said Sunday that electricity issues caused a temporary interruption of operations at its Onca Puma nickel plant in Brazil's Para state.

The miner said strong winds on Saturday damaged the local electricity provider's transmission network and the network is expected to be restored on Oct. 15.

Vale said it will assess the needed measures in resuming the plant's affected operational processes and the interruption's impact on nickel production. Meanwhile, the company reiterated its 2024 nickel production guidance of 153,000 tons to 168,000 tons.
