Vale forecasts $930 mln in new Q3 liabilities related to dam collapse

SAO PAULO, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Brazilian miner Vale

on Friday forecast that its third quarter earnings

will reflect 5.3 billion reais ($930.90 million) in new

liabilities related to the Mariana dam collapse.

In a securities filing, Vale said the estimate is based on

the current terms in discussion with miners BHP and Samarco and

Brazilian authorities for a final compensation agreement of

about 170 billion reais.

($1 = 5.6934 reais)
