01:19 PM EDT, 08/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Vaxart ( VXRT ) received a stop-work order dated Aug. 5 from Advanced Technology International, acting on behalf of the US government, directing the company to halt new screening and enrollment in its COVID-19 mid-stage phase 2b trial.

Participants already enrolled, or about 5,000 of the planned 10,000, will continue to be monitored, Vaxart ( VXRT ) said Wednesday in a statement.

Participants will be observed for up to 12 months to assess the oral vaccine's safety, immune response and effectiveness, the company said.

Topline results from the full study are expected in late 2026 with data from a 400-person early cohort due in Q1, the company said.

As of June 30, Vaxart ( VXRT ) received $98.9 million in payments related to the government contract.
