VeriSign Renews .com Registry Agreement with ICANN
Nov 27, 2024 9:18 AM

11:57 AM EST, 11/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- VeriSign ( VRSN ) said Wednesday it renewed .com registry agreement with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, ICANN, effective Dec. 1, replacing the prior agreement expiring Nov. 30.

The updated contract aligns with ICANN's Base Registry Agreement, introducing provisions for domain name transaction fee increases tied to the US Consumer Price Index, DNS abuse mitigation, and enhanced service level requirements, VeriSign ( VRSN ) said in a regulatory filing.

VeriSign ( VRSN ) said the agreement maintains the current pricing model for .com domain names and includes new commitments to bolster security and continuity for the .com top-level domain.

VeriSign ( VRSN ) and ICANN also amended a letter of intent framework to further collaborate on .com and .net TLD enhancements, with discussions extending to Internationalized Domain Names before the LOI's December 2025 expiration.

VeriSign ( VRSN ) shares rose 5% in recent trading.
