04:02 PM EST, 01/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Verizon Communications ( VZ ) said Friday it has contained a cyberattack carried out by a nation-state threat actor, which targeted a small group of individuals involved in government or political activities.
The actor breached several US telecom networks, including Verizon's, accessing limited mobile internet and call records of some customers. However, no communication content was compromised, and there is no evidence of public exposure, Verizon said.
The accessed mobile internet records included phone numbers, device identifiers, session timestamps, destination IP addresses, and cell tower locations, the company added.
Upon discovering the incident, the company said it promptly implemented key measures to safeguard its customers and network. It also actively collaborates with federal authorities and cybersecurity experts to protect its network and customers while ensuring normal operations continue.
