Verizon Wireless Settles 911 Call Outage Probe With FCC for $1 Million
Jun 25, 2024 10:52 AM

01:43 PM EDT, 06/25/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Verizon Communications' ( VZ ) Verizon Wireless consented to pay a $1.05 million civil penalty to resolve an investigation into 911 call outage in six states in 2022, the Federal Communications Commission said Tuesday.

The agency's Enforcement Bureau said its investigation looked into whether Verizon Wireless violated rules by failing to deliver 911 calls in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee during an outage in December 2022.

Aside from paying the penalty, Verizon Wireless also consented to implement a plan to ensure future compliance with the FCC's 911 rules, the agency said.

The company didn't immediately respond to a request for comments by MT Newswires.
