Verra Mobility to Exit Ontario After Province Bans Speed Enforcement Cameras
Nov 21, 2025 4:12 AM

06:58 AM EST, 11/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Verra Mobility ( VRRM ) said Friday that it is leaving Ontario after the province enacted legislation banning automated speed enforcement cameras.

The company said the exit was not its choice but was required under a new provincial law, effective last week, which overrides municipalities' authority to use the devices.

Verra Mobility ( VRRM ) said the legislation was fast-tracked with limited debate and no public hearings, despite strong public support and requests from local officials to maintain camera programs.

It added that while it respects the legislative process, it stands by the effectiveness of speed cameras in improving road safety.

The company expects the exit to reduce annual revenue by about $7 million, which was included in its 2026 preliminary outlook, and said it is not adjusting that outlook.
