Vertical Aerospace Completes First Piloted eVTOL Airport-to-Airport Flight
Jul 17, 2025 3:56 AM

06:34 AM EDT, 07/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Vertical Aerospace ( EVTWF ) said Thursday it completed the first piloted airport-to-airport flight of a full-scale, winged tilt-rotor eVTOL designed for commercial use.

The company said its VX4 prototype flew 17 miles from Cotswold Airport to RAF Fairford on Wednesday, reaching 115 mph and 1,800 feet in altitude.

It will also be on display at the Royal International Air Tattoo from July 18 to 20, it added.

The company said it is also advancing a new long-range hybrid-electric version of the VX4, offering up to 1,000 miles of range and broader applications in defense, logistics, and special missions.

Flight testing for the second-generation hybrid version is expected to commence in Q2 2026, the company added.
