Raj Kundra, Managing Director, Viaan Industries, spoke to CNBC-TV18, says the company has launched an Online Team Poker League (OTPL) to promote e-sports.

Kundra said that we have launched OTPL, the first of its kind in the world. The idea is to replicate it around the globe.

Expecting participation from 30 teams with annual prize pool of Rs 6.6 crore, Kundra expect franchisees to pay an annual licence fee of Rs 55 lakh.

We start with India and there are 30 teams for sale of which 15 are already committed to," said Kundra.

Talking about business, he said, “The first season happens in July 2018. So our whole focus has been real money gaming. So whilst there is animation, gaming, licences but the company will focus more on real money gaming.”

“In our pipeline we also have poker, rummy and more games coming out later this year,” he added.
