08:08 AM EST, 11/27/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Viasat ( VSAT ) said Wednesday that it demonstrated direct-to-device satellite connectivity in Saudi Arabia by sharing with ecosystem partner Skylo messages from a mobile device over satellite.

The demonstration showcased two-way and SoS messages sent via satellite to attendees of the Connecting the World from the Skies event using a commercial Android smartphone enabled for non-terrestrial network connectivity with the Bullitt over-the-top messaging application, Viasat ( VSAT ) said.

The company's shares were more than 4% higher in recent premarket activity.
