Viasat's First ViaSat-3 Satellite Now Live for North American Aviation Customers

10:26 AM EDT, 08/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Viasat ( VSAT ) said Monday that the first ViaSat ( VSAT )-3 satellite is now available for commercial service to serve aviation customers across North America, including routes servicing Hawaii.

The ViaSat ( VSAT )-3 F1 satellite, which underwent testing and live trials in H1, enhances inflight Wi-Fi services in the region, the company said.

Two other ViaSat ( VSAT )-3 satellites are in the late stages of production and testing, with mechanical environmental testing done on ViaSat ( VSAT )-3 F2 and thermal vacuum testing completed on the ViaSat ( VSAT )-3 F3, according to Craig Miller, president of Global Space Networks.

The company's shares fell 7.5% in recent trading.
