11:39 AM EDT, 06/02/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Village Farms International ( VFF ) said Monday it completed the previously announced transaction to privatize the majority of its fresh produce business, which officially closed on May 30.

The deal changes Village Farms ( VFF ) into a cannabis growth platform. The company also retains an ownership stake in Vanguard Food LP, offering additional upside, according to the statement.

Vanguard Food LP, a new joint venture between Village Farms ( VFF ), Kennedy Lewis Investment Management, and Sweat Equities, was formed through this transaction. The venture aims to become a branded consumer packaged goods company with a focus on healthy lifestyles and sustainable farming.

Backed by additional capital, Vanguard plans to pursue a roll-up strategy to acquire and expand produce brands and assets across North America, the company added.

Shares of Village Farms International ( VFF ) rose past 4% in recent trading activity.
