Analysts polled by Capital IQ expected $0.40.

Operating income for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $209.6 million, down from $293.2 million a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by Capital IQ expected $227.9 million.

The company said its board declared a quarterly base dividend of $0.30 and a variable dividend of $0.31 per Class A share, payable on Nov. 21 to shareholders of record on Nov. 14.

Shares of Viper Energy ( VNOM ) were down more than 1% in after-hours trading.
