Visa, Mastercard Shares Drop After Some Firms Reportedly Consider Stablecoin Launches

12:05 PM EDT, 06/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Visa (V) and Mastercard ( MA ) shares were down 4.8% and 4.5%, respectively, in recent trading Friday after some companies were reported to be considering launching their own stablecoins in the US.

Walmart ( WMT ) , Amazon ( AMZN ) , Expedia ( EXPE ) , and several major airlines have been weighing plans to launch stablecoins, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Such moves could help reduce reliance on traditional financial systems and cut billions in fees, according to the report.
