Vistra's TXU Energy, Ford Launch Free EV Charging Program for Texas Customers

10:01 AM EDT, 08/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Vistra ( VST ) subsidiary TXU Energy said Monday it is collaborating with Ford to launch a free electric vehicle charging program for Ford customers in Texas.

As part of the program Ford EV owners will be able to charge their vehicles at home during off-peak hours at "essentially" no cost, the companies said.

Customers will receive a credit on their TXU Energy bill for electricity used to charge their vehicle between 7 p.m. and 1 p.m. the next day, TXU Energy said.

The program, available to owners of Ford F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, and Escape PHEV models, allows users to schedule charging through the FordPass app or in-vehicle screen, the Vistra ( VST ) unit said.

Vistra ( VST ) shares fell more than 4%, while Ford was down 2.5% in early trading.
