07:36 AM EDT, 08/15/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Vodafone's ( VOD ) Vodacom unit has received approval from South Africa's Competition Appeal Court to acquire a 30% stake in fiber network operator Maziv from Remgro for 13.2 billion rand ($752 million), with an option to raise the stake to 40%, multiple news outlets reported Friday.
Maziv, a subsidiary of Remgro's Community Investment Ventures, owns Dark Fiber Africa and Vumatel, which build and operate fiber optic networks.
Earlier in July, the Competition Commission dropped its opposition to the deal, Vodacom said.
Vodacom and Maziv will now prioritize securing the final regulatory approval from the Independent Communications Authority, the reports said, citing Vodacom.
Vodacom did not immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
