07:34 AM EDT, 05/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Vodafone Group ( VOD ) and CK Hutchinson can go ahead with their planned merger of Vodafone Limited and Hutchinson 3G UK into a joint venture, the UK's Cabinet Office announced Friday.

The approval is subject to certain conditions, including the creation of a special committee to "oversee sensitive work" related to the UK's national security and a technical group under the committee will be required to provide regular updates and information to the government, among other stipulations, the Cabinet Office said in its order.

Bloomberg News has reported that the UK's Competition and Markets Authority is still looking into the proposed transaction.
