11:08 AM EDT, 09/04/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Volaris (VLRS) reported Wednesday that its passenger demand, measured as revenue passenger miles, fell 15% year over year in August.
Capacity for the month, measured as available seat miles, also declined 15% on an annual basis, the company said. The low-cost carrier attributed the drop to accelerated Pratt & Whitney engine inspections and the resulting aircraft groundings.
The load factor was 87% in August, down from 87.2% a year earlier.
Shares of Volaris were up more than 1% in recent trading activity.
