11:25 AM EDT, 06/20/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Vuzix ( VUZI ) said Thursday it has entered into a collaboration with Avegant, a provider of light engine technology, to develop waveguide optical modules for artificial intelligence-enabled smart glasses.

Financial details weren't disclosed.

The collaboration aims to develop an augmented reality display module for AI-enabled smart glasses by integrating Avegant's compact light engine with Vuzix's ( VUZI ) customized waveguide technology, Vuzix ( VUZI ) said.

The companies unveiled the prototypes this week at Augmented World Expo USA in California and plan to introduce a fully optimized version at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in 2025, Vuzix ( VUZI ) said.

Shares of Vuzix ( VUZI ) were up 2.3% in recent Thursday trading.
