Wabash to Receive $1.6 Million Grant From Energy Department to Develop Solar-Powered Refrigerated Trailers

08:26 AM EDT, 10/10/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Wabash (WNC) said Thursday it was selected to receive a $1.6 million grant from the US Department of Energy to develop solar-powered refrigerated trailers in partnership with the University of Delaware.

The company said the three-year project, which will start next year, is expected to reduce vehicle weight and energy use in commercial transport by using Wabash's EcoNex composite material and the university's carbon fiber TuFF technology.
