Walgreens Boots Alliance Agrees to Pay $2.8 Million to Settle Medicaid Overcharging Allegations
Mar 27, 2025 10:22 AM

12:55 PM EDT, 03/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Walgreens Boots Alliance ( WBA ) agreed to pay over $2.8 million to settle allegations that it violated federal, Massachusetts and Georgia laws by submitting inflated prices for certain generic medications to the states' Medicaid programs, the US Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts said Thursday.

Walgreens' pharmacies allegedly submitted a higher "usual and customary price" to the MassHealth and Georgia Medicaid programs for certain generic medicines between 2008 and 2023.

The settlement resolves, in part, allegations brought by a whistleblower, according to the press release.

Walgreens did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
