05:48 AM EDT, 05/19/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Walmart ( WMT ) came under fire Saturday from President Donald Trump, who accused the retailer of using tariffs as an excuse to increase prices despite strong profits.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Walmart ( WMT ) should not pass tariff-related costs onto consumers, citing the company's better-than-expected earnings last year.

"Between Walmart ( WMT ) and China, they should, as is said, 'eat the tariffs,' and not charge valued customers anything," Trump wrote, warning that he would be "watching."

Walmart ( WMT ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comments.

Shares of the company were down more than 1.8% in recent Monday premarket activity.
