Walmart Labs, the digital arm of US-based retailing major Walmart Stores, has acqui-hired its third startup, Bengaluru-based Dataturks, in a bid to use the latter’s machine learning capabilities for content enrichment.

The five-member team will be part of merchant technology team for catalogue enrichment, Hari Vasudev, country head, Walmart Labs India, said.

In December 2018, Walmart Labs had acqui-hired machine learning startup Int.AI and in September last year micro-app startup Appsfly.

The company is set to hire 1,000 people in India this year, Vasudev said, “We are expanding tech teams, including data science, product management and design.”

According to Vasudev, the share of India in overall technology will be close to 50 percent in the next three to four years.

The Bengaluru technology hub of Walmart Labs was started in November 2011 that focuses on developing cutting edge solutions, retail technology.
