Walmart Reportedly Meets With Chinese Officials Over Price Cuts Due to US Tariffs
Mar 12, 2025 3:32 AM

05:59 AM EDT, 03/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Walmart ( WMT ) met with Chinese officials this week to address reports that the retailer has asked Chinese suppliers to reduce prices to offset US tariffs, multiple media outlets reported Thursday, citing social media posts affiliated with CCTV.

The report said the meeting, held on March 11, involved China's commerce ministry and Walmart ( WMT ) representatives.

Bloomberg News reported last week that certain Chinese suppliers, including those of kitchenware and clothing, were requested to lower prices by up to 10% per round of tariffs, effectively absorbing the full cost of US duties.

Walmart ( WMT ) did not immediately respond to comment on the matter.
