Walt Disney Partners With Oriental Land to Launch Cruise Ship in Japan in Fiscal 2028

06:29 AM EDT, 07/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Walt Disney ( DIS ) has partnered with Tokyo Disneyland operator Oriental Land to launch a new cruise ship in Japan in fiscal 2028, Oriental Land said Tuesday in a statement.

Disney Enterprises and Oriental Land signed a license agreement on Tuesday.

Oriental Land said the total investment for the project is estimated to be around 330 billion yen ($2.05 billion).

The ship, which will have a capacity of up to 4,000 passengers, will mainly offer short distance routes departing from and arriving at ports around Tokyo metropolitan area, Oriental Land said.

The business is estimated to generate about 100 billion yen ($621.7 million) in annual sales within a several years of its launch, Reuters reported, citing Oriental Land.
