Walt Disney Shareholders Back Board's Director Nominees Against Activist Shareholders
Apr 3, 2024 11:51 AM

02:18 PM EDT, 04/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Walt Disney ( DIS ) said Wednesday its shareholders elected the full slate of directors recommended by the board over Blackwells Capital and Trian Fund Management's nominees by a "substantial margin," based on preliminary results.

Disney's ( DIS ) nominees included the company's chief executive Bob Iger.

"With the distracting proxy contest now behind us, we're eager to focus 100% of our attention on our most important priorities: growth and value creation for our shareholders and creative excellence for our consumers," Iger said in a statement.

Trian Fund Management, which had nominated Nelson Peltz and Jay Rasulo to Disney's ( DIS ) board, said Wednesday it was "disappointed" with the outcome of the proxy context and would be "watching the company's performance."
