07:18 AM EDT, 06/17/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Walt Disney ( DIS ) said Monday that its Pixar Animation Studios film "Inside Out 2" generated $155 million at US box offices over the weekend, describing it as the biggest opening of 2024 thus far and the second-biggest animated opening after Pixar's 2018 Incredibles 2.

Worldwide, the sequel made $295 million over its opening weekend, the biggest global opening for an animated film, the company said.

The first "Inside Out" film, which colorfully explores the inner thoughts of an adolescent girl, opened with $90 million weekend in 2015 and grossed $858 million worldwide, Disney ( DIS ) said.
