Analysts polled by FactSet expected $1.55.

Total revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $21.44 billion, compared with $20.37 billion a year earlier.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $21.15 billion.

Wells Fargo ( WFC ) shares rose 3.5% in premarket trading.
